What is it?

Once you have passed your test you may feel that you are on a par with other qualified drivers. However this is only the beginning of your new life skill and you continue to learn while you drive through experience.Pass Plus is additional training available once you have passed your test and will guide you through more advanced aspects of driving such as motorways, town driving and rural roads.

Did you know that two young people under 25 die every day in crashes in Great Britain.

Also, in their first year of driving, one driver in five is involved in a crash.

The benefits

This extra training is not compulsory however the experience gained from it is valuable, helping you develop your existing skills as well as promoting positive and safer driving.

Added to this, once you have completed the training, you are eligible to a considerable discount from insurance companies. Most of the major insurance companies endorse Pass Plus and offer generous discounts.

What does it involve?

The training is carried out over a minimum of six hours and consists of six modules. The modules are:
  • Town driving
  • All weather driving
  • Out of town driving and rural roads
  • Night driving
  • Dual carriageways
  • Motorways
The training can be done in one day or split up in 2 or 3 hour blocks. We normally venture out away from Portsmouth to other towns/cities, areas that you may not be familiar with, developing your sign and road reading skills. We also focus on areas you have little or no experience in, motorway driving being the most beneficial part of Pass Plus.

There's no test, upon completion a signed declaration is sent to the DSA who then issue you with a certificate, certifying that you have carried out the Pass Plus training.
